my garden plot in the community garden has been going well. my current lease on the plot is up for renewal December 1st. unfortunately because i am going away for 7 weeks, and because i now live somewhere where i have enough room to potentially grow in my own backyard i do not think i will renew my agreement.
as a result of this decision i am kind of wrapping up that garden, harvesting and enjoying what i can and not planting anything new. the last week here has been unusually hot, with temperatures staying in the high 30s. this has meant that many things in the garden have gone to seed, or are not surviving the heat wave well. watering is restricted by hose, so i try and get there to water by can but it is just so hot that many things are not happy. if i had planned on staying through the summer i would have put up some shade cloth to protect things, and i will definitely need to do this in my own garden when i get it started early next year.
still growing is my garlic, which i hope i can successfully transfer to a pot to finish growing. i know garlic does not like to be moves but if i dig up an area big enough around it hopefully it might survive.

my spring onion has been growing well and it is really nice and almost a bit sweet to eat. i will just harvest the rest of these to enjoy this week.
this is my artichoke, i planted this because i love to see it flower, i don't actually know when it is ready to harvest and what to do with it after that so i just let it go to flower like a giant thistle. i should find out really. i hope to see it flower before i have to turn in my keys for the garden plot.
i also still have some strawberry plants, garlic chives, celery parsley, daisy flowers, and lettuce that i will move to a pot, and i have some potatoes i hope i can harvest before i go on holidays.
