arty fencing installation

a couple weeks ago deb and nelson and myself went to site to install the 4 arty fences. it was of course an overcast day with period of down pours of rain, but we had fun anyways.

the posts were already in place so we just had to line up each panel and drill them into place.

they are really nice installed because the panel and image are not solid, the perforations mean you can see through the panel and the image is ghost-like

and from the front, you really get a feel for the transparency of the image and the perforations in this photo. 

the butterfly wing panel from the front. as you can see the park is yet to be completed, still some landscaping to do, but it should be done and open to the public in the next couple weeks.

wonder wall

back in january port adelaide had a festival on called wonder walls. more info on it here.

but basically a bunch of mural, or street, or graffiti artists we organised to paint a bunch of murals on some walls around the port. 

there were quite a few walls done. i did not make it to the festival itself but went with a few friends a couple weeks ago to check out some of the finished work. they are very impressive. with 2 large murals being commissioned, on an unused building pretty close to the center of the port. it has made that building which most people think of as an eye sore (even thought i quite liked the concrete building before) into a bit of a landmark now. i really like this piece with the rat and what i guess to be band musician.

on the other side of the same building is this mural. with aboriginal language written in the background.

here is borris and kumi in front of a mural that i also really liked. this one is kind of off the beaten track a bit. i like the realism of it.

and i really like this one. the style of the painting is very different, and the feeling a bit whimsical.

the view down the street, gives you a sens of how big these murals really are and how much work and time went into organising the event and making the artworks happen. i like this idea very much and hope to see it in action if it happens in this area again next time.

jobs on at home

recently i have learnt that i am lactose intolerant. that means that i have been not eating much cheese, my favorite and instead making new yummy treats. these are the most recent.

using silicone cupcake molds i melt chocolate and cover them, and then pop them in the fridge to set.

 

once they are cool i fill them with peanut butter, a slice of banana and some coconut.

 

so yummy

then i cover the tops and seal in the banana with more melted chocolate and decorate with more coconut and a goldenberry. these dont last long at our place.

when i am at home i have been spending my time trying to finish the quilt i started with lindsay ages ago. she finished hers last year. and i finally finished mine the other weekend.

the binding is green and yellow stripes. love it. quilting was simply making a diagonal cross through the plain linen squares.   i can't wait to get it on the bed once it warms up a tiny bit

and finally some local brat sprayed over my mile crate graffiti on our parking garage, so i sprayed over his disaster and made a new artwork.

 

who doesn't love a pineapple !

it is right on the corner in a prominent place, and i got the thumbs up from people passing by as i was doing it.
