walk with otto

yesterday otto and i went for our daily walk. we decided to go to the park and river near our place, and walk into the city center. this is one of my favorite walks, as it is close by, near town, but surrounded by nature. if i am having a bad day a walk in the parklands always makes me feel better.

and when walking with this cute little friend his little prancing steps always make me smile.

i love how he stops to see if i am still following him.

i brought my camera with a goal of looking up at the trees.

there are many beautiful gum trees along the river

there was no shortage of amazing tree forms.

i am looking for just the right image to try to use for a new artwork.

without even looking up some of the bark patterns are pretty beautiful

not bad for some quick snap shots to find a good model tree

again the bark patterns are amazing

half way through the walk otto got tired and hot

he decided to have a roll in the shady grass

he paddles along the grass

and rolls all around

happy tired hot dog

the view from where we had our rest in the grass.

the look i got when i said time for more walking

a few more up images on the walk home

it was almost mid day, 11 am or so, getting a bit warm out

but a lovely way to start the day, otto and me.

recently in Radelaide

here are a few of the things happening recently in Radelaide

i got to check out the bee hive at our studio with bob

they are a happy, passive hive, busily filling their home with honey

we may not get any honey this year, but it a long term project so that is ok.

there have been plenty of baby ducks and swans along the river - watch out for their territorial behaviour when riding your bike past

otto and i had a trip to the beach the other day for a walk

it was perfect weather for a stroll on the beach and a quick dip in the water

here is otto before he ran through the puddles

there was a panda cake made to celebrate a friends birthday

this was enjoyed over lunch last weekend

and until today the weather here has been perfect not too hot not too cold - and today is perfect inside computer activity weather - 39 degrees and only to get hotter tomorrow!

easter walk

it has been busy here, with lots of work on lately, but over the easter break we did get a chance to get to the beach and go for a walk.

it was overcast but a lovely day.

otto had a great time with the frisbee.

borris and i on the beach

otto a bit pooped from all the running around.

the sky was beautiful

the ocean a lovely green blue

a lovely afternoon!

port elliot holiday highlights

a couple weekends ago, borris and otto and i went on a mini holiday to port elliot.

we stayed at a place we found on airbnb. port elliot is about an hour and a half south of adelaide.

we were a short walk from the beach, so otto and i started our day exploring the beach together.

otto is cautious of the large waves, i think he might be more of a lake dog, (not many lakes around here)

a self of me one morning at the beach

borris was dressed for the warm summer weather as well as prepared for the cold with his beanie.

the scenery in the area is absolutely beautiful

the colours and light is amazing

it was quite windy, but we did heaps of walking.

we had lots of yummy snacks back at our holiday accommodation

the place had no technology, not even a clock, so we also spent lots of time sitting outside

snacking, reading, and enjoying ourselves.

it was a nice holiday, we had a great time, and i would like to plan a trip back in the new year. it is my aim to find more time in life to relax and this trip away was perfect for that.

random update on recent happenings

it has been cold in adelaide. down to 3 degrees or so at night. which is very cold when the windows are draft and single glazed, and the floors are concrete.

otto and i have been snuggling on the sofa.

borris is enjoying his new mini puff jacket from MEC.

we have been eating comfort foods, pierogi and sauerkraut and sausages and smatana (sour cream)

a good winter activity is glassblowing. i have recently booked in a few sessions, the only time i have truly been warm this winter.

working alongside the famous nick mount.

on the one really nice non rainy day we went for a walk in the hills.

otto is his long winter hair cut on the walk

another nice day i gave my pal deb a hand installing this public artwork at the port

its a large photographic banner on the side of a heritage boat shed.

you can get a great view of it across the port river

otto did come to work with me one day to the studio, where it was so cold he did not even mind having his jumper on

the results of my first blowing session. not bad for over a year and a half break from the hot shop.

the above cylinders cut and flattened out into sheet glass.
