my quilt is done!

this past week has been the hottest week of weather, a heat wave in fact, in november since records began here. that means the temperature has been sitting in the high 30's all week. and yes it is during this heat wave i decided to get down to business and finish my quilt.

it looks really great on the bed. i had sewn the binding on a few weeks ago now and had been avoiding finishing it off because of the hand sewing involved. i didn't know how to do it the right way and hand sewing is not my idea of a good time. but it turned out to be not that bad.

after a quick investigation on the internet one night i found a blog that showed step by step instructions of how to do a blind stitch. this is what you use to put the binding on so you can't see any of the thread. and so i started. the first side took me 2 hours on a thursday night. i have been picking it up off and on all weekend and now it is sunday evening and the task is complete.

i must say i am really happy with it. i followed all the proper instructions from my friend a quilting genius and even though i could have made something faster by cutting a few corners in the end it is very satisfying having such a well made quilt. i think when making any other ones i will stick pretty close to the quilting rules. i guess that is how i know i enjoyed it too as i am already thinking about the next quilt.

funny how i completed it just in time for the heat waves of australian summers.

super sexy quilting lady. quilting should have pin-up girls too. ladies sprawled on quilts with their hair covered, wearing sensible shoes giving the camera bedroom eyes. ooooooh yeah...
