river holiday

a couple of weekends ago borris otto and i went on a short local holiday to camp next to the murray river. we were meeting a friend who was on a house boat in a small landing area known as caloote.

this is the view from the river looking at caloote

this is the house boat our friend was on

and the view of the river from caloote shores

we were mainly there as our friend susie and borris had a small performance to do on the shores of the river on the sunday night, but it was a good excuse to get away for a few nights too.

we went for a cruise down the river, otto likes the house boat

sitting at the front of the boat was really nice, here we are passing the murray princess tour boat

we had lunch on a small island on the river, with a large beautiful tree

more river cruising

otto out front of the boat

the sky and reflections in the river were beautiful

very inspiring

and relaxing

otto again :)

the view of some holiday homes on the river bank

it was the right time of year to visit, everything was green from spring and the summer power boats and water skiers were at a minimum.

more holiday homes on the river side

borris as captain of the boat

susie and banjo at the wheel with borris

as the sun set over the river bank

it was a good time to use the star wars sun visor to keep our accommodation cool.

2015 holiday

i know it is only the last day of january today, but borris, otto and i have already gone for a camping trip.

we drove south along the coast and through some lovely australian bush areas.

this was the first time we have been camping in the kombi in over 3 years. I know this because otto will be 3 in march and this was his first time camping.

here is borris and the drivers seat

and otto next to him on my lap looking out the window.

we camped overnight near victor harbour and then the next day made our way to goolwa.

this is a new or recently restored steam engine train that runs along the south coast between goolwa and victor harbour.

it was really loud.

on the way back i stopped an bought these flowers,

they are proteas and amazing. i love the zig zag leaves that look like they have been done with scissors. and these flowers are still doing well in my house 2 weeks after our trip.

hopefully the first of many camping trips this year.
