ok it wasn't really a blitz. it actually took me about three weekends to get this all sorted.
i had intended to remove this tree stump in my backyard to make room for the lime tree. we had some visitors come and stay with us whose idea of relaxing down time was hard manual labour in the backyard extracting the root. they did a great job.
after our guests left, the backyard stayed like this for a little bit. i had intended to plant my garlic and winter veg crop the next weekend but as i started to dig up the garden to prepare for planting i found out that the neighbours rabbits had made a burrow under the fence and into my garden bed.
another weekend passed waiting for the neighbours to rabbit proof the fence line and then i could finally spend a whole day digging up the garden, digging in compost and planting out the garlic and spinach and laying some new turf for otto to enjoy.
the yard now looks like this. almost done, some straw mulch is all that is left to do, i hope to get to that tomorrow.
i also purchased some new garden furniture, it was on sale and i like the retro design. it is also good because spiders can;t hide in this open furniture.
in the end it was decided the lime tree would stay potted, mostly because if i planted it in the garden then i could not have the small lawn area for otto. the tree would compete with the grass for water etc. and otto does love grass to lie in.
the last part of the garden reno is the new dog door i installed.
otto seems to enjoy it, although sometimes he still sits inside barking at the birds next to the dog door rather than running out through it to scare them away. in time i think he might figure it out.
