concrete drawing 2 - first colour

on the morning of the first concrete pour for the second drawing we arrived early to the workshop to set up the final cutting lines as planned out with the timber and set in place the lifters around the foam template.

we have all our special little tapping tools ready

and then we wait for the truck to arrive.

as i have a broken wrist deb and i asked a friend john to help us on the day of the pour to tap the concrete in place with us.

the truck arrives and we are ready to work

this time it is a teal, blue green colour concrete.

we begin by placing the concrete around the lifters and then placing it in around the foam template.

we have to make sure that each thin section in between the foam gets tapped really well so that the air bubbles get released to the surface and the end result will be a smooth top surface.

this takes us a fair amount of time on a piece with this much detail and at this scale.

once we are satisfied with our tapping we leave the concrete to set for a couple of days.
