large timber bench seats

this is a part of a public artwork that Deb and I are doing for Port Adelaide. we are using these salvaged timber beams from an old wharf and making them into bench seats.

The timbers were weathered and grey when we got them, but for safety and functionality we had to sand them back and round out the edges on them.

we like the cut out bits, that would have been where this timber attached to another timber beam. we will highlight this with the painting we are going to do.

the next step will be to move these into our shipping container so we can oil one side, and then using high gloss paint on the top. the fork truck trolley comes in handy, deb and i can just manage to lift these beams if we need to but it is definitely at our limit.
