international womens day

Deb and I were invited to speak at International Women's Day at the Parkes, NSW Quota Club. We really only did it as Deb's mom asked us to, normally we don't like giving talks, but when your mom asks you kind of want to make them proud.

This is us at the pre-luncheon drinks in the garden with Deb's mom Marggie on the right and a good friend of Deb's on the left.

After the drinks we all moved inside to the lunch area where tables were set up for everyone

we were a bit nervous, but the lunch was great. 150 ladies, who are now in the know about what we do as artists. we showed about 110 images and spoke for about 20 minutes. There was another local council woman who spoke about her life and career path, as well as a performance by a local singer, and a very funny poem read a loud by a woman who had survived a serious stroke some years back. It was a really nice afternoon, we enjoyed giving the talk.

after the talk we were able to relax a bit at Deb's folks place just out of town. We sat in the garden and had a few cool drinks.

checked out the local wildlife. This is a Lrye bird that can copy other bird calls and even the sound of a car alarm.

here is the view from our seated drinking area.

not too bad. lots of gum trees hugging a small stream that runs along the end of their property.

the day before we left we had some friends over for drinks under the trees. this is the party getting started. It was nice to get away for the weekend and be out of the city.
