one of the good ideas i have had during my residency

i have always like the artwork and prints by

when i was doing some research in the national library i took out one of her books. this got me thinking about the process i do in glass, where i make stencils and then sandblast the top layer of colour away to create pattern. this is kind of like a glass version of lino cutting.

then i was thinking of the enamelling i was doing and thought i could combine the processes and make work out of class inspired by hand coloured lino prints.

this is the hand cut tape layer ready to be sandblasted.

here are the tiles out of the sandblaster, tape still on.

here are the tiles with the tape off.

i started hand painting the sections of the tiles with glass enamels.

here are the tiles finished being painted, and ready to be loaded in the kiln.

the kiln is loaded. i did the last layer of enamels on my other tiles too. they will be out and hopefully finished tomorrow.

i think that i will use these combined processes to make some new work.
