capsicums

in my garden i planted 6 capsicum plants. i thought they were all green capsicum. then these long banana capsicum started growing. i was concerned that they were going to be hot but they are in fact sweet banana capsicum.

and they taste yummy.

there was one plant that wasn't fruiting yet, but then just the other day i noticed some small green fruit on it and it turns out this plant is the green capsicum i thought they all were. obviously a mix up in the nursery but i am glad i get to watch these tiny miniature green capsicum grow. they are so cute, and i can't wait to eat them.

it is amazing to watch food growing. it also makes me realise how much space and time i would need to grow enough food for myself and borris to survive on. it makes me appreciate how lucky we are to be able to go to the shops and buy fresh fruit and veg as needed.

It's true isn't it? When I did the first garden (which I was going to grow everything self-sufficient) I realised I would soon starve, or get scurvy or something (from just living off the potatoes I could grow)

In a small community though with everyone doing it, we'd all swap! Because I never had any luck with capsicums and now I don't even plant them, so I'd have to swap for some of yours!
