after a few days the first half of the test panel was set and we were able to pick out and remove the foam template. this leaves us with the gaps for the second contrasting color in our drawing.
we mix up the next colour and lay it into the open spaces around the first colours.
this is easier to do in some ways as we can just fill it but we have to be careful not to trap air, and to tap all the bubbles to the surface.
a view from inside the workshop to the outside where we are mixing the concrete.
the second colour goes in and we tap out the air.
the third and final colour is put into place. then we will fill the rest of the template up with non coloured concrete and some structural support mesh. this needs to set for a few days before the exciting task when we can try and lift this test tile from the base concrete casting bed and flip it over to reveal the test image.
