borris and i are in melbourne this week for my exhibition at craft
we are staying in an apartment in china town, here is borris relaxing
this is the gallery space before the install where the 2 other artists will install their work.
my boxes arrived with my artwork safe and i started by unpacking all the work
then i set the artwork out along the walls where i thought i wanted to position it in the room.
i had a chat with the gallery curator and we made a few changes to my original layout and then set about installing the pieces. the tall tripod is holding a laser level which made the installation of the black wall panels really easy.
there is a small nook in the gallery space that my work was going in, and we decided to install the only multi panel piece centered on this wall
the grid was drawn up and the screws put in the wall, and then each tile set in its place
here it is finished. this is the first time i have seen this work installed properly on a wall, and it looks really good.
having it centered on the wall in the nook gives this piece some space around it which i think draws more focus to it and makes it a bit more special
then i only had a collection of small related panels to install
originally there were 12 of these tiles but in the end it was too much work for the space and i edited them down to 8 panels. in the end i think it made this collection stronger.
it was the opening tonight. here i am in the gallery just before people begin to arrive.
i was pretty nervous before the show, the anticipation is the worst, but it was fine once it started.
here i am with the gallery curator and my good friend. it has been really nice working with her on this project.
i will post images from the opening and the professional images of the artwork in the next few days.

Thanks for a great install Chris! Stress free, quick and beautiful - so profesh! Can't wait to see you back in Melbourne in 6 weeks. Will try and sell all the works before then though :)
