behind the scenes

in my last post i wrote that the real deadline for the exhibition had passed, as i had all the work completed for photography. this was only half true. while a lot of the pressure was off i still had a lot of work to do before the exhibition opening. this is literally behind the scenes work. all of the pieces in my show will hang on the wall. i used a variety of hanging systems.

i use some plate hangers on some of the work,

i use some clear plastic key hole hanging units on some of the work,

i use some metal flush wall mounts

i use custom made wood units

some of the metal systems get installed onto wooden backing panels

the panels have a recess in them

that allows them to slide onto the wooden cleat attached to the wall.

so then you have this,

ready to install the glass onto.

this past week has seen lots of measuring, leveling and math

i have been marking out measurements

so that i can hang my multi panel piece.

in some cases i had to make a map to hang on the wall to help me place the holes for the brackets.

then i can install the brackets in the correct position,

and then install the artwork on that.

and then finally the all important packaging.
its been a busy week. installation starts tomorrow, i will be delivering the work to the gallery and meeting with the install crew. opening next sunday, i can't wait to see it done.
