i had my friend who is a jeweller make the backings for my new neck pieces. they are made from silver and with the two small tubes on each end it will help the neck pieces hang nicely when worn. the idea was to take my badges and make them a bit fancier.
it took me a while to decide what string to hang them on. i tried linen cord, waxed cotton cord, silk cord, and metal beaded chain.
in the end i decided to use the waxed cord. and as with most things presentation and packaging is everything.
another friend of mine scanned in an old map of adelaide and i printed this out to display the badges on, putting them in context.
to take the theme a step further i cut out a small section of the scanned in old map and put it as the backing in packaging for each neck piece.
this is my pal who scanned in the images modelling a finished neck piece in the studio.

the group show is on for a month now - i hope they are well received.

Oooh, I like it. I like the idea of it and when ever I see good stuff like this I vow to wear more necklaces...but I've been saying that for a looong time and don't think I'll change!
Hope we can chat soon, keep me posted on your May plans!
