the first thing i like to do in the new year is figure out what commitments i have in my art practice, so that i can then work out what funding to apply for and the deadlines.
i have done this, i have a show in october 2013 and another in january 2014. the very first thing i need to do is come up with a title for the show. I imagine it will be the same show at both galleries, with slightly different work maybe.
when i applied for the shows i had a working title of "small moments"
the show will be made up of imagery like this:
- issues around the natural world and its relationship to our man made world
- Ideas about my heritage, and lifestyle
- moments from my past and moments that are currently happening in the world around me
- the mundane and everyday events and things in my life
for the shows coming up i have less of a direct or full realised concept to start with. i want to use images that are from my life, some will be recognisable, others pixelated out so you have no idea what they are but give more of a vibe to a moment. these images will be on large and small wall pieces, and some 3D forms.
so far the title options i have are:
- the everyday of our culture
- the ordinary and the everyday
- the everyday and the ordinary
- small moments
- recollect
- future memory
