3 dresses

my friend rosie and i have had 2 sewing dates recently. one at the end of last year and one this year.

i finally used this fabric that i bought a couple years ago, and using a pattern i was given a couple years ago as well.

i think this will make a good work dress, the fabric is light and airy.

i like the detail in the neck line, it was fun to do. I might make myself a shirt using this pattern again.

on the second sewing date  again used this cotton fabric that i had been holding on to now for a few years. it is a textures cotton with a small black print.

this is my favorite pattern, a basic a-line shift, that i wear all the time. this time i made some sleeves. borris thinks they look like fairy sleeves. they cover the top of my shoulders, but are not sewn closed at the bottom seam.

i added the black binding to the end of the sleeves and at the bottom of the dress.

i haven't worn this out yet, it is a bit light in colour for me, but i have a feeling that it will become a favorite.

and finally (excuse the background of the photo but otto wanted to be involved with this one). this is a dress that i made by copying a dress a friend had, and making it without any testing in one go.  the original fabric was much softer, and this grey fabric has not been washed yet, so hopefully it will soften a bit too.

the idea is that it is a sack, with built in sleeves, and a rolled neckline. I really like the detail of the neckline, i will do it again.

i need to wash this dress and war it around the house a bit. it is by no means perfect and needs some tweaking but i think it might be ok, with the right fabric and a bit more planning.

again borris thinks i look like a character from star trek, like peasant farmer on a far away planet. i think he means it as a compliment. :)
