its nice to be home

after being away for a month its good to be home again. i missed borris and otto of course! but i also missed my kitchen and garden.

after over a month of just watering by borris the garden is truly over grown.

i think i can see some green tomatoes on the plants and a few smaller plants under the overgrown veggies struggling for light. i will spend an afternoon in the garden weeding and thinning it out, i might even have room for some new seedlings!

in the kitchen i decided to make my grandmothers recipe for kutia.

Kutia is a traditional Ukrainian sweet grain pudding/soup. it is an important part of the traditional Christmas Eve menu in Ukraine. the ingredients can vary somewhat but always include wheat, poppy seeds, honey and salt. in fact that is all it has in it and it is yummy. we serve it cold with chopped walnuts on top. easy, cheap and yummy.
i will be making this again.

You're home! I can't believe it was a month you were away; hope it all was good and we can chat soon. Dreaming of summer and my garden after seeing yours...is it too early to start planning?!
