hard rubbish

in australia they have this thing called hard rubbish. at designated times during the year different council areas have hard rubbish collection. this is when you put out anything that is too big to fit into a bin out on the side of the street to be collected.

it is great, usually people start putting things out the week before and then other people around looking for treasures and collecting metal for scrap, and wood for building.

now i have been looking for a sofa or couch for my house for a little while now. i have looked in the shops and they are too expensive for me, i have looked on ebay but i always get outbid. what i wanted was a small nice sofa, just like this one i saw on the side of the road today!!

this is my first hard rubbish treasure. it will need a bit of work, fixing a few things in the wood and perhaps putting in some wooden slats, and sanding and oiling the surface.

and i will need to get some sort of cushion made and covered, but it is exactly what i wanted, and it is in really good condition.

i have been outbid on ebay for similar items that end up selling for $400 - $500 so i think today was my lucky day. i can wait to get it all fixed up and into my house.

WOW! I adore this! It has your name all over it! Congratulations! I hope you will re-show it after it is all completed! Can't wait to see what kind and color of cushions you choose!!!

I'm so jealous! This is exactly the sort of thing I've been looking for, for quite some time. Anything like that around here is categorized as "mid-century modern" and therefore costs huge money. Yay for you!!!!
