winter .....still

winter seems to be lasting a while this year. i don't know what it is but i am really feeling the cold this year. along with that cold comes having a cold or the flu. i think i have been sick 3 times this winter. :(  last week i was in bed almost every day with a horrible cough.

that is why my blog has been quiet, i am have been too sick to blog.

the week before that, i was too busy, with moving my studio space around, having the studio i am in be a part of an open studio day and the first week of dog training classes.

this week is less busy, and i have decided that i will try and eat more fresh raw foods in my weekly diet to try and keep any more colds and germs away.

this is the really yummy salad i made the other night i love purple cabbage in salad and sprouts, and cucumber, and kale, and carrots, and corn, and broccoli and capsicum, and celery all with a lemon and garlic and olive oil dressing.

it makes winter seem more bearable when eating a salad as fresh and crisp as this!

Dumplings! well more like steam bun, but we call them dumplings

when i was a kid, my mom used to make beef stew and dumplings, and i loved the dumplings. the weather here has suddenly become much colder so in reaction to this i have started cooking winter foods.

borris is a vego, so that means no beef stew, but the other night i was cooking a lentil rice and bean kind of stew thing, and on the very next page of my hand written recipe book was the cheese dumpling recipe. i decided to put the dumplings on top of the lentil bean stew, taking a chance that it might not go together that well. but it did!

they were a success and almost as good as when mom made them. we will definitely be having this meal again! and it was so easy!
