dog on bike

this is otto getting set up for a bike ride. borris organised a basket for otto to sit in that gets secured to the back of the bike.

he seems to really enjoy being on the bike.

in fact he is quite relaxed.

he just sits and looks around and watches the world go by.
its hard to see in the image above but he seemed quite interested in the fact that i was following them on my bike. this was his third ride. i will try and get some better images on our next trip.

this is an exciting development, because it means we can travel longer distances with otto and not have to rely on a car. oh the places we will go!

tweed run

the other week the annual tweed run was held in my city. my neighbour is really into cycling and he invited me and borris along for the ride. he even got us some tweed jackets to wear.

we met at the town hall and then the gang of tweed wearing cyclists took to the streets.

there were some cool bikes, like this custom penny farthing. it was beautiful.

i got dressed in my tweed-ish socks and my crochet moustache for the event as well. the moustache was a big hit.

this is borris in the gang. there were approximately 160 people on the ride. it was a beautiful day and perfect for peddling around the city.

and here i am posing at the edge of the crowd that is covered with tweed.

it was a fun day, i think i will go again next year!

community clothes rack update

so a while ago i added to the community bookshelf a community clothes rack and blogged about it. i had been back once the following week after i set it up and since then i have been terrified to return to find it gone, or ruined or not accepted into the community. but good news it has been used and as you can see many items have been left. i added a black jacket i have hardly ever worn on this visit.

while i was there i also noticed this small note that has been posted near the bookshelf and clothes rack. it was nice to see it being accepted and for someone else to be making rules for it and making it the communities.

boris loves going to the community bookshelf as he loves free stuff and we usually come back with many books but it was so dark on this visit we could only see what was on the shelf once this image was on the computer.

panier bags

i know i already showed an image of my new bike, but this is the completed bike, with my new panier bags. this is what is going to make my bike into my all purpose utility vehicle or as they say here "ute". i can now move all my glass and groceries around without having to have a bag on my back. so far they are working perfectly!

when i bought the bike i bought one that had a pretty good back hub that could take the weight of a heavy load. it is hard to ride when the bags are full and could be easier to fall over but i will get used to it!

my new ride

in getting a new studio this year i also decided it was time to update my ride. seeing as i don't have a car i needed to find a way to get my glass and other materials around. i recently purchased this shiny new blue bike to enable me to ride across the city to the blue pony with ease. it has a rack on the back that will be able to hold 2 pannier packs (i will get these later next week). it is much easier to ride that my old bike. i want to try to remain car free for as much of my travelling as possible, so i consider this my new "ute" (utility vehicle)
