quilt complete!

well i can finally post these images on my blog because the new owner has finally received it in the mail as part of her birthday present!

i had lots of left over fabric when i made my quilt for my bed last year. enough in fact for a pretty large quilt. (almost double bed size i think) all i needed to buy was the backing fabric, wadding and binding fabric. as the woman at the quilt store said it was basically a "free" quilt.

so this is the top of the quilt. all the bricks are the same height but various lengths, using all the leftover fabrics from my first quilt. the blue border was the extra backing fabric from my quilt. i used it here to break up the pattern into sections. the orange polka dot fabric i used on the binding - i love. it is an amy butler one as are some of the fabrics used in the bricks.

the backing fabric the blue and tan pattern part, i found on sale, but it wasn't big enough of a piece. the lady at the quilt shop helped me find a perfect match in the solid tan fabric to go with it so i could make a stripped backing.

this is my first attempt at actually quilting a quilt all together on my small domestic sewing machine. i borrowed a walking foot from a friend and started out with my diagonal quilting lines. they are very hand done (not straight at all) but i like it, adds a certain charm to the quilt.

IT IS WONDERFUL!!! I keep it in the closet and pull it out everynight but only to go on MY side of the bed. Boss Hog doesn't even get any. The girls are forbidden to touch it lest they smear it with jam.
I can't describe the feelings that go with this quilt. It is cozy, comforting, beautiful and full of love. Thank you so much.
